(1)   PIHA AND WAITAKERE MOUNTAINS.

HALF DAY:10am - 3.30pm. $95         

Departs daily Including Arataki Waitakere Ranges visitor centre, guided walk in the rainforest, optional walk to Kitekite waterfall, a stroll on the black sands of the rugged windswept wilderness West Coast Piha beach, and a visit to 1000 year old kauri trees.  

(2)     AUCKLAND WINE COUNTRY, KUMEU, AND MURIWAI BEACH
Departs 12.30pm - returns 5.15pm on request. Minimum 2 required

Leave Auckland city behind for Kumeu wine country for a vneyard lunch and glass of wine (included) at Soljans winery restaurant, then on to Coopers Creek vineyard for some tasting, and to one of Auckland's most special places at Muriwai Beach on the rugged West Coast. From August to April the gannets nest on a rocky outcrop arising from the sea and you can view from the nearby cliff. Final wine tasting is at West Brook Winery before returning to your accommodation.

(3) KAURI MUSEUM AND FOREST AND BAY OF ISLANDS. One day tour
Departs Auckland every Monday year round for minimum of 2 passengers. Other days for minimum of 4
Depart Auckland 7.30am. Drive north over the harbour Bridge and along the Hibiscus Coast to the Otamatea Kauri and Early Settlers Museum, one of the best little museums in New Zealand. Learn of the importance of the kauri tree to the development of Northland and see the lifestyle of the early settlers.
Continue through Ruawai 'kumara capital' of New Zealand, and Dargaville into the Waipoua kauri forest. Visit "Tane Mahuta" giant kauri tree - some 2000 years old. Enjoy our included fish, chips, and salad lunch (vegetarian options available) overlooking the Hokianga Harbour and sand dunes before arriving in the Bay of Islands.

(4) KAURI MUSEUM AND BAY OF ISLANDS day tour                         7.30am - 8.10pm          $297          Departs Daily           

Depart Auckland 7.30am. Drive north over the harbour Bridge and along the Hibiscus Coast to the Otamatea Kauri and Early Settlers Museum, one of the best little museums in New Zealand. Learn of the importance of the kauri tree to the development of Northland and see the lifestyle of the early settlers. Continue to the Bay of Islands and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where the Treaty of Waitangi between Maori and the British Government was signed iin 1840 including guided tour, concert, and the excellent Waitangi Museum. A short ferry ride will take you to historic Russell. See Pompallier House, Flagstaff Hill, and the oldest church in New Zealand built in 1834. Return to Auckland mid evening.  Cost $279. Operates tuesdays for minimum of 2. Other days for minimum of 4.

(5) COROMANDEL TOWN AND DRIVING CREEK RAILWAY.  One day tour.    Departs tuesdays and saturdays 8am - 5.30pm. $269. (Minimum 2 people)
Drive south over the Bombay Hills and across the Hauraki Plains to the old gold mining city of Thames. Take a coffee break (on saturdays enjoy the local market) and continue along the Pohutukawa Coast to the town of Coromandel for a lunch break (own expense) before enjoying the unique Driving Creek Railway built by local potter and rail enthusiast, Barry Brickell. Ride the train through regenerating native forest up the hills to the "Eyefull Tower" for a panoramic view over the Peninsula and Hauraki Gulf. After returning to base and visiting the pottery return to Auckland with some stops at scenic points en route.

 

(6).   CATHEDRAL COVE AND HOTWATER BEACH

Operates Mon,, Wed, Fri.. Minimum 2 passengers required. 

Depart 8am - Return 6pm. Tour cost $269 per person. 

Explore the east coast beaches of the beautiful Coromandel. Visit Hotwater Beach where you can dig your own bath in the sand near the waters edge 2 hours either side of low tide, Stopover for lunch in Hahei or nearby (own expense), and head to Cathedral Cove to walk it off. There is a 30-40 minute walk downhill to the cove where the Pacific Ocean washes through a natural arch. Some of the stunning scenery featured in the filming of the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. Relax on the beach and get your photographs before returning uphill to your vehicle for the return home.  

Good walking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness are required for this tour. Order of sightseeing will depend on time of low tide at Hotwater Beach.

7. COROMANDEL PENINSULA ONE DAY GRAND TOUR. 

Thames, Coromandel, Driving Creek Railway, Hot Water Beach, kauri trees, Cathedral Cove. Lunch included.   Pickup and return Auckland inner city hotels.

After pickup from your inner city accommodation travel south and across the Bombay Hills and east over the Hauraki Plains to the town of Thames, scene of a major gold rush from 1860 to 1920. 

Drive up the Pohutukawa Coast, a blaze of red when the Pohutukawas are in bloom  late December - mid January, to the town of Coromandel which also figured large in the early extraction of gold and kauri timber 

Enjoy a ride on the "Driving Creek Railway" to the "Eyefull Tower" through revegetating native forest and marvel at the fulfillment of the dream of Barry Brickell, potter, environmentalist, and railway enthusiast. 

Continue to Hahei where you have the opportunity for a ninety minute hike to Cathedral Cove and back. 

Alternative cruise from Hahei along the rugged and spectacularly beautiful coast. See Cathedral Cove and enter a sea cave - weather permitting. Extra cost $98. 

Also visit Hotwater Beach where 2 hours either side of low tide you can 'dig your own' hot bath in the sand before returning to Auckland.
