Departs daily Including Arataki Waitakere Ranges visitor centre, guided walk in the rainforest, optional walk to Kitekite waterfall, a stroll on the black sands of the rugged windswept wilderness West Coast Piha beach, and a visit to 1000 year old kauri trees.

Depart Auckland 7.30am. Drive north over the harbour Bridge and along the Hibiscus Coast to the Otamatea Kauri and Early Settlers Museum, one of the best little museums in New Zealand. Learn of the importance of the kauri tree to the development of Northland and see the lifestyle of the early settlers.
Continue through Ruawai 'kumara capital' of New Zealand, and Dargaville into the Waipoua kauri forest. Visit "Tane Mahuta" giant kauri tree - some 2000 years old. Enjoy our included fish, chips, and salad lunch (vegetarian options available) overlooking the Hokianga Harbour and sand dunes before arriving in the Bay of Islands.

Continue to the Bay of Islands and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where the Treaty of Waitangi between Maori and the British Government was signed iin 1840 including guided tour, concert, and the excellent Waitangi Museum. A short ferry ride will take you to historic Russell. See Pompallier House, Flagstaff Hill, and the oldest church in New Zealand built in 1834. return to Auckland mid evening. Cost $279. (6) COROMANDEL TOWN AND DRIVING CREEK RAILWAY. One day tour. Departs tuesdays and saturdays 8am - 5.30pm. $235. (Minimum 2 people)
Drive south over the Bombay Hills and across the Hauraki Plains to the old gold mining city of Thames. Take a coffee break (on saturdays enjoy the local market) and continue along the Pohutukawa Coast to the town of Coromandel for a lunch break (own expense) before enjoying the unique Driving Creek Railway built by local potter and rail enthusiast, Barry Brickell. Ride the train through regenerating native forest up the hills to the "Eyefull Tower" for a panoramic view over the Peninsula and Hauraki Gulf. After returning to base and visiting the pottery return to Auckland with some stops at scenic points en route.
