One day tour departs Auckland 7.30am daily. Returns 8-8.30pm
Pickups from inner city hotels prior to 7.30am and drive north across the Harbour Bridge to the beautiful Bay of Islands and to the Waitangi Treaty grounds.
Meet your local guide for a historical tour of the Treaty Grounds where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840 and see the Treaty House. The first part of this house was prefabricated and sent from Sydney in 1834 and was home to James Busby, first British representative in New Zealand. See also the Meeting House with carvings from all tribes in New Zealand bult for the centenary of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1940, and the great war canoe. Spend time in the excellent museum portraying the events surrounding the signing of the treaty in 1840.
A picnic lunch is provided today.
Return to Paihia to join your cruise boat for a 3 hour cruise among some of the 144 islands in the Bay of Islands to Cape Brett. Cruise through the 'Hole in the Rock' - weather permitting. Usually dolphins are to be seen during this cruise. You may be able to swim with the dolphins for an additional $30 per person. Your boat will have a brief stop at historic Russell before returning to Paihia .
Rejoin your vehicle and relax for the 4 hour drive home arriving about 8.10pm.
