Arrive Auckland sunday You will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Arrivals before 3pm will receive a complimentary tour of introduction to Auckland City including the Domain and Museum (exterior only), Tamaki Waterfront Drive, Mission Bay, Harbour Bridge, Westhaven Boat Marina, Albert Park, University quarter and Qeen Street. 1 night accommodation and breakfast at a 4 star hotel.
Monday morning we we depart at 7.30am for the Waitomo Caves and enjoy a guided tour through the main limestone cave and cruise in the amazing Glowworm grotto. Continue to the Hobbiton Movie Set for a 2 hour guided tour of the set including one cold drink in the Green Dragon Inn before continuing to Rotorua for a guided tour of the Te Puia thermal area including the famed Pohutu geyser, bubbling mud pools, and the Maori Arts and Crafts centre. This evening enjoy the best of Maori culture with a concert including haka and poi dance, before a hangi steam cooked meal.
Tuesday we leave Rotorua early and travel through part of the vast kaiangaroa pine forest and along the shores Lake Taupo, our largest lake, and are on the Whakapapa ski field by 10.30am in time to kit up for your first lesson or to roam the extensive slopes.

Come friday its time to head home with some free time before transferring to National Park rail station to join the "Northern Explorer" train departing at 1.15pm and arriving Auckland at 6.50pm. You will be met and transferred back to your hotel in central Auckland for one night
You are welcome to stay at Whakapapa for an extra 2 nights and return sunday night if you wish.
Tongariro Alpine Crossing - guided hike
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is regarded as one of the worlds great walks with magnificent views of the central North Island mountains. This is not a walk in the park but an alpine crossing. A good level of fitness is required and we recommend the guided hike with 1 guide per 10 people and equipment provided. - Cost $195. Pickup and return to your accommodation included.
