Day 1. ARRIVE AUCKLAND Arrive Auckland and you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
Day 2. AUCKLAND AND HOBBITON Tour New Zealand's largest city this morning.. Learn of our volcanic history, drive up Queen Street, see the Town Hall, Albert Park and the University of Auckland, Domain and War memorial musuem (exterior) and cross the Harbour Bridge for panoramic views of the city from Mt Victoria and also visit our largest Marina. This afternoon we are off to the fantasy world of Middle Earth. Stop in Matamata for a brief visit to the I Site, built like a Hobbit Gate House and a photo with Gollum statue. Continue to the Shires Rest and join your local guide for a 2 hour guided tour of Hobbiton and one cold drink at the Green Dragon Inn. Return to Auckland early evening.
Day 3. AUCKLAND - WAITOMO CAVES - ROTORUA Depart Auckland and drive south to the Waitomo caves for a guided tour of the main glowworm cave and cruise in the Glowworm grotto. Contnue to Rotorua with a picnic lunch provided on board. Visit the Agrodome for an introduction to farm activities with a tour of the farm and demonstration of sheep shearing and sheep dog handling. Contnue to the Te Puia thermal area for a scintillating Maori cultural concert and tour of the thermal area including famed Pohutu geyser, bubbling mud, and the Maori Carving and Weaving schools. Overnight in Rotorua. Why not relax in the soothing thermal waters of the Polynesian Spa? (Extra expense)
Day 4. ROTORUA - QUEENSTOWN Fly south to beautiful Queenstown and you will be transferred to your accommodation. Free time for activities.
Day 5. MILFORD SOUND EXCURSION (L) A day of magnificent scenery as you drive to Lake Te Anau then on through the Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys and Homer Tunnel to magnificent Milford Sound. Cruise to the head of the Sound under magnificent Mitre Peak and see Bowen Waterfall. Lunch is included during your cruise. Return to Queenstown early evening.
Day 6. QUEENSTOWN - MOUNT COOK - CHRISTCHURCH Another day of spectacular scenery as you drive through the Kawarau Gorge and over the Lindis Pass into the McKenzie Country and along the shores of Lake Pukaki to Mount Cook, our highest mountain. You have time here for lunch or an optional ski plane or helicopter flight - weather permitting and extra expense. Continue to Lake Tekapo for a brief visit to the sheep dog monument and Church of the Good Shepherd before continuing across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurfch. You will be taken to your accommodation. We absolutely recommend spending more time in Queenstown, and/or staying a night at magnificent Mt Cook..
Day 7. CHRISTCHURCH DEPART You will be transferred to the airport for departure.
