Day 1. Tuesday. October 11. AUCKLAND - WELLINGTON (D)
You will be picked up from home Orewa to Pukekohe and transferred to the airport. Depart Auckland midday with Air New Zealand. Arrival in Wellington is scheduled for 1.10pm and we will go straight to Weta Workshop for a guided tour of the making of the magic of Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. Continue around part of the beautiful Marine Drive including the rugged south coast, Lyall Bay, and Mt Victoria en route to our 4 star accommodation in the centre of the city
Day 2. Wednesday. October 12. WELLINGTON - WORLD OF WEARABLE ART show (BD)
Our tour this morning includes a guided tour of Parliament, Cable Car, Botanical Gardens, tour of Governor General's home, (subject to confirmation) and time at Te Papa museum of New Zealand. Tonight we enjoy dinner on Queens wharf and the fabulous World of WearableArts Awards Show with premium seats and programme included.
Day 3. Thursday. October 13. WAIRARAPA (BL)
We drive through the Hutt valley and over the Rimutakas and into the Wairarapa. Visit Featherston for a coffee break, and the fishing village of Ngawi with stunning views of the rugged Palliser Bay coastline. Visit the largest fur seal colony in the North Island. Continue to the base of Cape Palliser to see the lighthouse and you are welcome to climb the 225 steps to it if you wish! Continue to Lake Ferry Hotel for an included Fish and Chips lunch (vegetarian options if pre-ordered). Last stop is at a Martinborough winery with tasting included. Return to Wellington late afternoon.
Day 4. Friday. October 14. WELLINGTON - AUCKLAND (B)
You have 2 options for the return to Auckland
#1: Pickup from the hotel at 12.15 for transfer to the airport. Depart Wellington Airport 1.45pm arriving Auckland 2.50pm and transfer home.
#2: Pickup from the hotel at 5.15pm for transfer to the airport. Depart Wellington airport 6.45pm arriving Auckland 7.50pm and transfer home.
OPTIONAL EXCURSION.
Kapiti Island. - day excursion. $335..............Limited space.
Just off the coast from Paraparaumu lies the island of Kapiti, nature reserve, one time home of Te Rauparaha, and a fabulous place to visit. Our day tour departs Wellington at 7am driving north to Paraparaumu Beach before the 20 minute cruise to the island. Enjoy a warm welcome on the island and a guided nature and history tour with one of the descendants of the original residents. See some of our endangered birds such as Takahe, Kaka, Weka, Saddleback, Kereru, Kokako, Hihi and Robin. Enjoy lunch at the Kapiti Nature Lodge. Return to Wellington city about 5pm and Wellington airport about 5.45pm. You are welcome to stay over longer in Wellington or there are flights to Auckland at 6.45pm and Hamilton at 7.20pm.
INTERISLANDER Kaitaki sailing departs Wellington 8.45am arriving Picton 12.15pm and departs Picton 2.15pm arriving Wellington 5.45pm.
BLUEBRIDGE Feronia departs Wellington 8.15am and arrives Picton 11.45am. Straitsman departs Picton 7.15pm and arrives Wellington 10.45 pm.
