Tuesday 05 August/ Monday 04 August 2025 AUCKLAND - NIUE (D)
6.35am. Check in at Auckland International Airport. There is no longer a group check in. Please check in individually and text me on 021 174 9588 when you have and go through security and immigration to the gate. See you there.
9.05am. Depart Auckland aboard Air New Zealand flight NZ936. Cross the dateline and arrive Niue 1.35pm Monday. Transfer to our accommodation at Matavai Resort, Yoiu will have time to settle in, have a swim in the pool, and (hopefully) see a whale or two swim by. 4-5pm. Welcome drink and resort orientation with the General Manager at the restaurant 5.30pm. Coconut show at the pool bar
6.30pm Welcome 2 course dinner in the hotel restaurant included tonight.
Tuesday 05 August (again!). NIUE (CB)
9am. Keith will be our guide for our 4 hour morning tour of introduction to the West Coast includes Alofi, the 'capital'. Discover the history and culture of Niue, the cliffs, rock pools, with the opportunity to explore one or more of the pools. Light refreshments included.
1.30pm Peter will be our guide for a plantation tour and visit to Tamakautoga village. See the process of growing the 10 main exotic fruits in Niue with the chance to taste and buy. Also visit a Vanilla plantation with 30,000 organic vanilla vines and learn about growing, harvesting, and packaging vanilla.
Dinner is not included tonight to let you decide whether to support a local restaurant or eat at the hotel.
Wednesday 06 August. NIUE - Whale Watch (CB.D)
7.30am 12 people will transfer to the launching pad for whale watch cruise. Wetsuits,snorkelling gear, drinking water, a hot drink, and biscuits are provided. We need to know if you have Asthma, or any other medical condition that we need to know about or other injuries that affect your ability to swim, whether you have difficulty with moderate excercise or would find it difficult to swim unaided 80 metres or are not comfortable swimming in the open ocean or if you are not comfortable snorkelling you are welcome to stay in the boat and watch. Please note: Swimming with whales is a special experience and is not always allowed in other countries e.g. in New Zealand however it is subject to weather and the guides discretion on the day and depends on whether calves are present etc. If the cruise is cancelled through weather or other factors beyond our control a full refund of the cruise is given. We will try and rebook but it is peak season and all sailings are currently full. We recommend bringing reef shoes that you can wear while exploring the reef as well. Return from the cruise about 11.45am and transfer back to the hotel. The cruise is by 6 person zodiacs for easy getting into and out of the water.
1.30pm. We join Tofis Lakepa Village Green tour to learn about Niue's unique history and an an introduction to the North side of the island.

Thursday 07 August. NIUE. (CB. Light lunch, D)
This morning we explore the East Coast including a Nonu Orchard with tasting,the village of Hakupu, Anapala Chasm, Togo Chasm with tropical Havulu rainforest walk, and Hikulagi Sculpture Park. We will also hunt for the Uga coconut crabs (one of Niue's delicacies) with the chance to cook and taste.
12pm A light lunch will be hosted by the ladies of Hapuku village.
1.30pm. 6 people enjoy their Whale Watch cruise returning about 5pm.
This evening we will enjoy dinner and cultural night at Matavai resort.
Friday 08 August. NIUE. (CB. D)
If you would like a second chance to see the whales (and possibly swim with them) I am holding some extra spaces this morning which can be prebooked now - extra cost $305.
The rest will have the option to visit a local school this morning to meet the students and teachers and talk to them. $50 of your tour fee is given to the school as a koha. The rest of the day is free. We recommend a visit to the market in Alofi this morning.
This evening we will enjoy a Royal Feast at Kaiika restaurant Including Miso soup, small Ahi Salad, 4 piece Carpaccio, Tempura, and Chirashi
I will have a Mini bus Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning which will be available for shuttling people around on a share basis. You are welcome to hire a car yourself if you wish to explore on your own.
Saturday 09 August NIUE. (CB)
Free day to explore at your leisure. Visit the shops saturday morning if you wish. Hire a car and explore the many rock pools, caves, and forests on the island if you wish. Dinner is not incuded tonight.

Sunday 10 August NIUE. (CBD)
Free day. I recommend a visit to a local church if you wish to enjoy local Polynesian singing. Final dinner tonight.
Monday 11 August/Tuesday 12 August NIUE - AUCKLAND. (CB)
Free morning. Check out is 10am but bags will be left with reception until we transfer to the airport
2.50pm. Depart aboard Air New Zealand flight NZ937. Cross the dateline again.
