                THE UNIQUENESS OF THE BIBLE

The Bible is totally unique in world literature. 66 books in one, written over about 1500 years by 40 authors yet one complete coherent story from the creation of the universe to the end of the universe as we know it. How could a work of literature like this happen only once in human history? To ignore it is to cut ourselves off from absolute truth as well as history, poetry, drama, and very very wise advice for successful living.

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. 2 Timothy 3 v 16

The Bible is the world's best selling and most translated book. Over 40 million copies are sold around the world each year. It has been translated into over 500 languages and in part to over 2,000.

Some of most poignant and meaningful words in the bible are contained in the book of Psalms. King David (2nd king of Israel) wrote around 3,000 years ago. (Psalm 19)

"The heavens proclaim the glory of God.

The skies display his craftsmanship.

Day after day they continue to speak;

 night after night they make him known

They speak without a sound or word;

their voice is never heard.

Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul.

The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple,.

The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart.

The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.

Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever.

 The laws of the Lord are true, each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.

Psalm 119 is the longest book in the bible (176 verses). All except two emphasise the importance, value, and joy of reading, understanding, and obeying the word of God.      .
