Monday. AUCKLAND - TE KAHA
Free home pick up Orewa to Pukekohe
Depart Auckland 9am and drive to Whakatane, Ohope Beach, and Opotiki including a visit to the excellent museum, and along the coast to our accommodation overlooking the sea in Te Kaha.
Tuesday. TE KAHA - GISBORNE. (B)
A leisurely day as we travel through Ngati Porou territory around East Cape through Waihau Bay, Hicks Bay, East Cape (climb some 700 steps to the lighthouse if you wish), visit the beautifully carved St Mary's church in Tikitiki, Ruatoria, Te Puia Springs, Tokomaru Bay, Tolaga Bay with its famous 660 metre long wharf and optional walk to Cook's Cove - 5.8 km), and Whangara. See some of the beautiful meeting houses and ancient pa sites, learn the history and enjoy the scenery. Overnight in Gisborne.
Wednesday. GISBORNE - NAPIER (B)
We enjoy the morning exploring Gisborne before driving south to the Mahia Peninsula and see what we can of Rocket Labs launch area. Continue to Wairoa and arrive Napier late afternoon for 2 nights.
Thursday. NAPIER (B)
Enjoy the Art deco city and visit Bluff Hill, Marine Parade, Mission vineyard and enjoy a tour to Cape Kidnappers gannet sanctuary.
Friday. NAPIER - AUCKLAND (B)
Drive to Taupo for a break and return to Auckland mid afternoon and you will be taken home.
