AUCKLAND CITY AND WILDERNESS

Pickup from inner city hotels and drive up Queen Street to see main central city buildings then through the Domain with spectacular views of the Auckland Museum to the suburb of Parnell. See the Holy Trinity Cathedral and learn of Auckland's volcanic heritage before crossing the Harbour Bridge. Visit the charming seaside suburb of Devonport and drive up Mt Victoria for a panoramic view over the city and visit the Westhaven Marina, largest in New Zealand on the way back to the central city.  

Time for a lunch break (own expense) before heading west to the Waitakere Ranges. Visit the Arataki visitor centre for spectacular views of 2 harbours and continue down to a West Coast beach such as Piha or Kari Kari for a stroll on the soft black sand. 

Stop at the forest for an easy stroll in the rainforest. See native palms, giant tree ferns, and an ancient kauri tree. 

Return to the inner city with plenty of time to sample the cuisine in one of the many excellent restaurants and cafes tonight.
